Worldwide disgrace: Kislitsa on Netrebko's participation in the London Opera film season

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsya called the decision of the Royal Opera House in London to open the new film season with a performance featuring Russian Anna Netrebko a “global disgrace”.

Let us recall that the singer, who supports the bloody policy of dictator Putin, financed terrorists of the so-called DPR and participated in events organized by the Russian authorities. She is included in the Mirotvorets website database as a person threatening the national security of Ukraine.

The first broadcast of the 2025–2026 season, which will take place on October 1, will feature Puccini’s Tosca, starring Netrebko. The season will include nine productions in total, which will be broadcast in 1,500 cinemas worldwide.

“Only a photo with bandits and their Moscow curators could be the best illustration of the worldwide disgrace of the Royal Opera House in London,” Kislitsa responded to the decision of the cultural institution.

After the full-scale Russian invasion began in 2022, New York's Metropolitan Opera terminated its contract with Netrebko. Despite this, the Russian is returning to Covent Garden for the first time in six years: she will perform in four performances of Tosca from September 11 to 21, in Turandot in December, and give a solo concert in June 2026.
