Tinniswood himself believed that the secret to his longevity lay in “pure luck”.
โ You either live long or you live short, and there's nothing you can do about it, — he said in an interview with reporters.
At the same time, the man noted that the main rule of his life was moderation in everything. He smoked very rarely, drank in moderation, did not adhere to any diets, and did not abuse his favorite chips and smoked fish.
โ If you drink too much, or eat too much, or walk too much – if you do too much of anything – you will eventually suffer, — explained the elderly Briton.
The Guinness Book of World Records notes that John Tinniswood was born a few months after the sinking of the Titanic and served in the British Army Pay Corps during World War II.
After reaching the age of 100, he received an annual birthday card from Queen Elizabeth II, whom he later outlived by two years.
