Kharkiv prosecutor's office reported suspicion of high treason against a Russian agent. During his activities in the Ukrainian government, he collected and transmitted information to the aggressor country.
As the investigation established, the suspect not only made a career in the Ukrainian government, but even served in the Armed Forces. Thus, he collected and passed information to his curators from Russia.
How the traitor worked
The suspect is a former police officer in the Donetsk region. Since 2017, he has worked in the Main Department of Foreign Policy and European Integration of the Administration of the President of Ukraine. While working there, he established contacts with officials.
The following year, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and passed on information to the Russians about the leadership of the battalion, the situation on the front line. He also worked on the possibilities of recruiting commanders. He stayed there until 2021.
After serving in the army, the suspect continued his work for the aggressor. He collected information about special forces units in the Kirovograd, Khmelnytsky and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. He also provided Russia with information about the warehouses of weapons and fuel in the Cherkasy and Poltava regions.
The man was detained in the Donetsk region. His place of residence is registered there.
