By trying to strike at the Ukrainian energy system, the Russians are trying to drain the Ukrainians. However, they fail to do so.
Vladimir Omelchenko, director of energy programs at the Razumkov Center, told Channel 24 about this. According to him, the Ukrainian energy supply system withstood another missile attack.
Russia again wants to leave Ukrainians without electricity
Vladimir Omelchenko explained that by intimidating the Ukrainian people with the absence of light, the Russians see in this some kind of hope for themselves to defeat Ukraine.
They understand that nothing works out for them on the battlefield – there will be no results there, – he stressed.
In his opinion, due to the failure of the offensive at the front, Russia in this agony wants to destroy the Ukrainian rear, that is, the provision of electricity and heat.
“The economy cannot work without electrical energy,” he pointed out.
In his opinion, the Russians will not succeed, because the Ukrainian energy industry and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are on guard and are doing everything to prevent this from happening.
Power situation after the attack
Vladimir Omelchenko added that this time they managed to avoid irreparable consequences.
Our energy system worked ahead of the curve, that is, unloaded in order to maintain its integrity, the normative frequency,” he explained.
According to him, after the end of the air raid, power engineers began to gradually turn on the power to restore power supply throughout Ukraine.
However, it was not without damage.
“Three thermal power plants of DTEK got into the generation. The main power transmission lines of the Ukrenergo company were also damaged,” he said.
Omelchenko stressed that today there are no capacity restrictions, but only network restrictions, since a hit in high voltage lines was recorded.
Emergency shutdowns in Odessa, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv regions,” he said.
According to him, the Russians got into one of the major heating facilities in Kyiv, so there is still no heat in some areas of the capital.
