The Ukrainian energy system has suffered devastating damage from Russian attacks. Therefore, in all cities, scheduled or emergency power outage schedules operate daily. How the cold snap affects the situation with the light and how long the blackouts will continue – read in the article.
An expert from the Institute of Energy Strategies told Channel 24 about this Yuri Korolchuk. He stressed that now frosts in Ukraine are not significant, if there was a cooling down to -15 degrees, then the restrictions would be much greater.
According to him, nowpower engineers are successfully repairing those facilities that have been subjected to missile strikes, this is also confirmed by Ukrenergo.
This can be seen from the limits that are “growing “for those regions where the energy industry suffered the most – in particular, Kyiv and the region, as well as Odessa, in other regions the “stable regime” was established faster,” Korolchuk explained.
How long can the blackout last
The energy expert emphasized that a conditional improvement is noticeable today.
In his opinion, if there are no more significant consequences from missile attacks on energy facilities, then a “global” repair and renewal of the energy system may take a year and a half.
But this does not mean that people will live for a year and a half in conditions of planned power outages. Most likely, at the moment when substations and blocks of thermal power plants are being restored, planned outages will continue even in summer, Korolchuk explained.
He adds that fewer blackouts – in particular, there may be no electricity for 2-3 hours a day, this is the minimum figure.
“Even such minimal blackouts will occur. Yes, in spring or summer there will be no there will be shortages of electricity, but during the evening peaks they will limit consumers,” the energy expert summed up.
