The Egyptian began her performance with her first career victory at the 2024 Olympic Games, defeating American Elizabeth Tartakovsky — 15:13. However, she lost her next duel in the 1/8 finals to Korean sabre fencer Jeong Ha Yeon (7:15).
— What seems like two players on the podium were actually three! It was me, my opponent, and my little baby who was not yet born! My baby and I had many challenges, both physical and emotional.
The roller coaster of pregnancy is tough enough, but the struggle to balance life and sports was no less intense, but it was worth it. I am writing this post to say that I am overwhelmed with pride that I made it to 16th place, — Hafez wrote.
She added that she was lucky to share the trust of her husband and family and be able to get so far. Hafez emphasized that this particular Olympics was different: Three-time Olympian, but this time with a little Olympian!
For the Egyptian, this Olympics was the third in her career. At the Rio and Tokyo Games, she failed to advance beyond the first match. Thus, the result in Paris at the Olympic level is the best in her career.
