2026 Winter Olympics: when will they start
The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in two Italian cities at once – Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Cortina d'Ampezzo previously hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics, but Milan will do so for the first time.

The Swedish cities of Stockholm and Are also competing for the right to host the Winter Olympics. However, Italy received more votes during the voting. This will be the fourth time the country has hosted the Olympic Games.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held from February 6 to 22.The Paralympic Winter Games will be held from March 6 to 15, 2026.
These will be the first Olympic Games with two official host cities. According to preliminary information, the opening and closing ceremonies will be held in different locations.

During the Olympics, more than 3,500 athletes from 93 countries will compete for 195 medals in 16 Olympic disciplines and six Paralympic sports.
