Ukrainian Daria Snigur started the Grand Slam tennis tournament — Wimbledon. For the 22-year-old athlete, this is her debut victory on these courts in the main draw.
Snigur beat the Frenchwoman in two sets Océan Dodinwith a score of 6:4, 6:0.

The tennis players spent 52 minutes on the court, during which Snigur served for elimination three times and made five double faults — the opponent has the same amount. At the same time, the Ukrainian significantly surpassed her opponent in terms of winners — 29 vs 10.

Daria started the first game with a break and took the lead 2:0, but the Frenchwoman managed to take the Ukrainian’s serve and equalize. With parity in the score, the Ukrainian took her opponent's serve and made no more mistakes. As a result 6:4.
Snigur completed the second set in 21 minutes — she outplayed her opponent, scoring three breaks.
This was the third head-to-head meeting between the tennis players — in the first two the victory was for Doden. In the second round, Snigur’s opponent will be Latvian Elena Ostapenko. We also note that Snigur is the winner of the Wimbledon junior tournament in 2019.
Daria became the fourth tennis player who managed to overcome the starting barrier of the main tournament of Wimbledon 2024. Dayana Yastremskaya, Marta Kostyuk and another debutant Yulia Starodubtseva also finished their matches with victories.
But Ekaterina Beindl and Angelina Kalinina, like Lesya Tsurenko the day before, completed their singles performances at Wimbledon. Beindl lost to German Laura Siegemund (6:4, 6:1), and Kalinina “neutral” Eline Avanesyan (6:2, 6:3).
The match of another Ukrainian Elina Svitolina against Poland's Magda Linette was postponed to Wednesday, July 3, due to rain, which twice interrupted the second day's games.
