How the plans of Ukrainians have changed over the year

In April last year, the agency conducted a similar study. At that time, 36% of Ukrainians planned to stay in Poland, 7% — had the goal of moving from Poland to another country, 55% — planned to return to Ukraine.

At the same time, 82% of citizens who planned to return to their homeland answered that they would come to Ukraine after the victory.

— The study shows that the number of those who definitely planned to stay in Poland decreased by 17% compared to last year. This is a gigantic figure, considering the number of Ukrainians living in Poland. The good news for Ukraine is the hope that large numbers of people will return.

But the question of people’s motivation to return to their homeland — This is a task with an asterisk for the Ukrainian government. Most of all, we need to work with people who still doubt, — noted the founder of the international employment agency Gremi Personal Evgeniy Kirichenko.

How long have you been in Poland

A think tank asked Ukrainians how long they had been in Poland. About 36% arrived in Poland less than a year ago, 25% — in Poland for two years already, 15% — from one to two years, 10% — about three years, 7% each — four and five years respectively.

Analysts pay attention to the 25% of Ukrainians who came to Poland about two years ago.

According to their assumption, this figure demonstrates the number of refugees who left Ukraine at the beginning of a full-scale war. Others — these are people who come to Poland to work.

The survey was conducted using an electronic questionnaire from December 2023 to March 2024, in which 1,150 Ukrainians in Poland took part.
