Russia's all-out war against Ukraine could kill thousands this summer, but neither side will likely achieve a decisive breakthrough.

What will the situation be like at the front in the summer

Ukraine and Russia are facing a “deadly summer”, according to The Wall Street Journal, as the war heads into a “cruel season” during which thousands of people are likely to die on both sides.

The publication cites the words of an unnamed senior Ukrainian security official who claims that Russia will most likely continue to sacrifice large numbers of troops for small gains.

According to him, the Russian Federation does not have enough troops for a large offensive on Kharkov, otherwise the movement of forces will weaken other sectors of the front. At the same time, the main task of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is now — hold positions using Western weapons.

The publication notes that both sides are trying to strike hard to gain an advantage ahead of winter. For example, the Russian Federation is attacking the energy structure and positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and Ukraine is launching long-range missile attacks on the occupied Crimea.

What the Ukrainian Armed Forces responded

The Armed Forces of Ukraine do not undertake to predict what the situation will be at the front during the summer of 2024.

Nazar Voloshin, a representative of the operational-strategic group of troops of Khortitsa, noted that June was indeed very active at the front when compared with May. According to him, the enemy has suffered significant losses over the past week and month.

Now the main battles continue in the Kurakhovsky, Kramatorsk and Pokrovsky directions. At the same time, Russian troops began active operations in the Toretsk direction.

Nazar Voloshin claims that the Russian army lost more than 31 thousand troops in June, despite the active offensive of the Russian Federation in the East of Ukraine.
