Independence Day — is a holiday that symbolizes the adoption of the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which took place in 1991. It is celebrated annually on August 24.

According to the Labor Code of Ukraine, all public holidays in Ukraine are days off. If a holiday falls on a day off, it is moved to Monday. That is, on Monday (August 26) there should have been an additional day off.
However, during the war these norms were cancelled, so only those days that fall on holidays will be days off on Saturday or Sunday, that is, only on August 24.
In general, in August, Ukrainians will have 9 days off – 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31. These are days that fall on Saturday and Sunday, there are no additional days off in the last month of summer.
