Ukraine's future may depend on US House Speaker Mike Johnson's ability to push for tens of billions of dollars in aid. He has repeatedly called it a “critical priority” for the United States.
This statement was made by congress reporter for the Wall Street Journal Lindsay Wise. She drew attention to Johnson's recent thesis that the United States cannot allow Vladimir Putin to walk around Europe, so they understand the need for help.
The WSJ story said the funding for Kyiv is part of a complex set of negotiations between US policymakers and a test of Johnson's leadership.

Lindsay Wise suggested that individual members of the US House of Representatives could propose a resolution to remove Speaker Johnson from office, as happened with McCarthy. This could happen if they think Johnson is overstepping the so-called line.
