British intelligence said on September 16 that the Russian army may try to attack our state’s energy facilities again. In particular, this is evidenced by the increase in the rate of missile production.

The department also emphasized that the invaders can use cruise missiles to attack the Ukrainian energy sector. We are talking about the notorious X-101 type missiles.

What will happen to rocket attacks in the fall and winter

The British intelligence report noted that between October 2022 and March 2023, Russia attacked Ukraine's national energy infrastructure with long-range weapons. These were cruise missiles launched from the Caspian Sea area.

Air-launched cruise missiles, especially the modern Kh-101, were the backbone of most of these strike missions. Russia uses strategic bomber aircraft to launch these munitions from deep within Russian territory. – the department noted.

UK intelligence also refers to open source reports, saying that since April 2023 Russia has been spending less on air-launched cruise missiles, while Russian leaders have emphasized efforts aimed at increasing the rate of production of such weapons.

“Thus, Russia will probably be able to create significant reserves of air-launched cruise missiles,” the intelligence agency emphasized.

Finally, the department concluded that there is a real possibility that Russia will again concentrate these weapons against Ukrainian infrastructure during the winter of 2023-2024.

Earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Moscow Region said , will there be shelling of energy in winter

  • Representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vadim Skibitsky said that Russia is studying our energy facilities, looking for their vulnerabilities and the location of our air defense systems. Thus, the occupiers can prepare for new massive attacks on the energy sector of our state.
  • The speaker of the OK “South” Natalya Gumenyuk also spoke about the preparation of the occupiers for shelling of Ukraine in the fall and winter. She emphasized that they can save missiles in order to use them throughout our state during the heating season.
  • Before this, Energy Minister German Galushchenko said that the heating season could pass without blackouts. This will be possible provided that there are no new attacks on the Ukrainian energy system.
