During the war, men of military age were forbidden to travel abroad, exceptions apply only in certain cases. The border guards explained which of the citizens who worked abroad will be able to leave the country during martial law.
Who can go abroad
On February 24, there were a lot of men working in other countries in Ukraine. After the introduction of martial law and the ban on military-age men from leaving the country, they stayed at home, and the economic situation does not always allow them to find work at home.
The border guards explained that this category of citizens was not included in the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 57 “On the Approval of the Rules for Crossing the State Border by Citizens of Ukraine”, therefore, they will not be able to go abroad.
At the same time, men can go to a place of permanent residence in another country if they have received permission from the State Migration Service, coordinating military commissariat.
Accordingly, anyone who:
- changed their place of residence in compliance with all regulations can cross the border;
- is not registered with the military;
- not liable for military service.
The law may change in the future. Now the Verkhovna Rada has a registered bill allowing the departure of men who have business or real estate abroad, as well as those who will be useful to the Ukrainian economy outside the state.
