It is impossible to apply a differentiated approach to Ukrainian refugees based on their gender, age, or military service.
The EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, said this in an interview with Radio Liberty.
— This is impossible under the Temporary Protection Directive (the document regulating the status of Ukrainian refugees in the EU, — Ed.), — the European Commissioner noted.
In addition, she noted that the European Union has never felt any pressure from the Ukrainian government regarding the return of refugees.

— We have very wonderful and productive cooperation, — said European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson.
Commenting on Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga's calls for the EU to develop programs that would encourage refugees to return home, Johansson noted that she had discussed the issue with the diplomat during her visit to Kyiv.
The European Commission representative assured that the EU would support both categories of Ukrainians — and those who want to stay in Europe, and those who plan to return home.
The return of Ukrainian men from abroad
When asked by Radio Liberty to clarify whether the EU would help Ukraine return its men of military age from abroad, Johansson said that no one would be forcibly expelled from the EU.
— We will support those who want to return to Ukraine, and we will discuss with the Ukrainian authorities and the Ukrainian government how best to do this. We will not expel anyone from the EU, — Johansson emphasized.
