Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov spoke about how modern weapons will affect the fighting in Ukraine. He is convinced that the latest technology will fundamentally change the picture of war.
He stated this during the telethon. The Minister of Defense stressed that since the beginning of March, our country has been convincing international partners of the need for modern weapons, Channel 24 reports.
Modern weapons will change the philosophy of warfare
Oleksiy Reznikov noted that Ukraine could not in the confrontation with Russia, rely only on Soviet ammunition, weapons and ammunition. International partners literally convinced that it was necessary to change the philosophy of warfare. And this is impossible to do without modern weapons.
The Ukrainian army is powerful, strong, but it will be even stronger when it fights with modern weapons. This includes artillery, long-range weapons, tanks, armored vehicles, aircraft. – he stressed.
The Minister notes that at first the partners did not react too much to the request of Ukraine. Like, our state can continue to defend itself with the help of Soviet weapons. So the President, the Prime Minister, the Head of the President's Office, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aleksey Reznikov himself began to put pressure on every level.
And they managed to achieve the set result. In Europe, they realized that modern weapons would radically change the philosophy of warfare.
Thus, Ukraine began to receive 155-caliber artillery from the United States, France and other partners. And our gunners, it is no longer a secret, are learning to use this technique in action. The situation is similar with tankers and other specialists.
For example, now the Ukrainian military will be able to strike not for 20, but for as much as 40 kilometers.And this, Oleksiy Reznikov is sure, should fundamentally change the picture of the war.
Public pressure has paid off
He added that at first the partners did not really believe that Ukraine would be able to overcome the enemy. There were states that also gave us only 72 hours. The same three days during which the leaders of the Kremlin wanted to seize our country.
At the same time, the Ukrainians showed not only by their courage, but also by their principled position that they would not surrender their land. This showed Europe and the world that we will fight to the last.
Strengthening by them (partners – Channel 24) of the eastern flank should occur precisely because of the strengthening of Ukraine. It is we who protect the entire civilized world from the orcs,” he stressed.
Alexey Reznikov also explained why the whole world changed its position on heavy weapons. He is convinced that this was achieved thanks to political and public pressure. People in Europe believed in Ukraine and began to put pressure on their politicians.
I think this is the main real reason for the paradigm shift (in providing heavy weapons to Ukraine – Channel 24), – the minister added.
It should be noted that on the eve of Volodymyr Zelensky, in his address, he noted that Ukraine would receive the necessary weapons. According to him, the partners have finally heard our state, so we will be given what we asked for. And thanks to this weaponry, the President emphasizes, it will be possible to save the lives of thousands of people.
