Vladimir Zelensky traveled abroad for the second time since the start of the full-scale invasion, in particular to meet with British officials. Subsequently, the Office of the President explained in detail why Ukraine needed this trip.
The arrival of the Ukrainian leader in London became known on February 8 at about 12:40. At the same time, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, stated on the air of the national telethon that such foreign visits are planned in advance. Channel 24 informs about this.
The main purpose of the visit is weapons
According to Podolyak, Kyiv cannot report ahead of time about such business trips for security reasons. It is also clear from his statement that the main purpose of President Zelensky's visit to London right now is to speed up the process of negotiations on providing us with weapons.
It is necessary to speak specifically at this stage of the war. We need some types of nomenclature weapons. In this case, we are talking about aircraft. In addition to aircraft, long-range missiles. But, apart from missiles, we need to speed up the supply of tanks,” said a representative of the Office of the President.
He stressed that the head of our state in the UK will directly, and not hintingly, tell partners about the need to transfer weapons to us. It is necessary that all the states of the civilized world understand that the struggle of Ukraine against Russia is important for maintaining order and peace in all countries of our globe.
Pay attention!Podolyak recalled that before and after Zelensky's speech at the Palace of Westminster, there were continuous applause from British officials. This reinforces the thesis that the West is aware that the war in Ukraine is not a local conflict, but a large-scale confrontation for democratic values.
