The career of war criminal Sergei Surovikin rapidly declined due to collaboration with the rebel Yevgeny Prigozhin. The former commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces became just the head of the CIS coordinating committee on air defense issues.

“We see how the S-400 Triumph complex is destroyed, the PDK Minsk and the submarine Rostov-on-Don are practically in dry dock. We see how Russia’s vaunted air defense, for which Surovikin was responsible, is cracking,” the political scientist added.

The fate of Surovikin after the death of Prigozhin: briefly

• At the end of August it became known that General Surovikin was fired from the post of commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces. A few days later, the war criminal appeared in public for the first time since Prigozhin’s mutiny. He and his wife were walking around Moscow.
• Subsequently, information appeared about Surovikin’s new position. A war criminal could become the chairman of the CIS air defense coordinating committee. According to preliminary information, all representatives of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers unanimously supported his candidacy.
• Analysts noted that such an appointment is nothing more than the Kremlin’s revenge for improper performance of its functions. In particular, this applies to waging war against Ukraine.
