Podolyak reproached Merkel because of her policy as chancellor/Channel 24 collage
Angela Merkel admitted that she expected Vladimir Putin to start a full-scale war. The Office of the President reacted to such words of the former German chancellor.
Podolyak reproached Merkel for Nord Stream 2
Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak was outraged by Merkel's policy as German chancellor. He does not understand why the official increased Europe's dependence on Russia if she knew about the bloody plans of the aggressor state.
If Merkel always knew that Russia was planning a war, and Putin's goal was to destroy the EU, then why build Nord Stream 2? “I was not naive,” says the ex-chancellor. Why was it necessary to plant Europe on the oil and gas needle of Russia? And why Germany has to correct these mistakes today, the politician stressed.
What preceded this
Recently, Merkel gave her first big interview, no longer in the position of chancellor. In it, she said that, as head of the German government, she “was not naive” about Russian President Vladimir Putin's hatred of the Western democratic model. Say, she warned her colleagues about the threat several times.
At the same time, the then chancellor continued to build ties with the Kremlin. It was during her tenure that the construction of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline began. After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the current head of the German government, Olaf Scholz, closed this project.
By the way, Merkel herself does not consider herself guilty that Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022. The politician stressed that she would not apologize for this. At the same time, she called the war Moscow's “big mistake”.
Merkel has been widely criticized for increasing Europe's dependence on Russian gas and oil for 16 years. After the occupation of Crimea and Donbass, the politician did not break off relations with the Kremlin, which freed the hands of the aggressor and led to further aggression.
Pay attention! Recently, Scholz announced the provision of heavy weapons to our state – air defense missile systems Iris-T. According to the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, Andriy Melnyk, these weapons will arrive in our country at the end of June. At the same time, he urged not to delay the process, because the situation is difficult.
