However, this weapon has not yet switched to mass production. Oleg Katkov, a military expert and editor-in-chief of Defense Express, spoke about the reasons for Channel 24.
Why production is not mass-produced yet
The fact is that the Ukrainian self-propelled gun “Bogdan” did not have time to complete the necessary tests. According to Katkov, as of February 2022, she completed practical preliminary fire tests, firing 450 shells with a distance of up to 42 kilometers.
There really is a certain period when the development was frozen. That is, they did not carry out the necessary measures, she did not go to the tests, they were looking for shells. There were, in my opinion, bureaucratic elements that prevented this from happening,” Katkov noted.
However, according to a military expert, even if, as of February 2022, the Bogdan self-propelled guns all the necessary tests and was put into service, this would not mean that the Ukrainian military would have, for example, 100 samples of these weapons.
“Any establishment of mass production of weapons is a matter that is measured in years. That is, if we wanted to have 100 Bogdan self-propelled guns, we should have started development in 2010, and preferably in 2005,” Katkov added.< /p> Curious! Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny in June 2022 noted that the Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer “Bogdan” played an important role in the liberation of Zmeiny Island from Russian invaders.
