After the claim of the Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine removed the publication in social networks about the birthday of Stepan Bandera. Poland continues to negatively perceive the image of the Hero of Ukraine.
This was told to Channel 24 by the Polish scientist and public figure Ryszard Kupidura. According to him, the Poles hoped that Symon Petliura would become the national hero of Ukraine, but Stepan Bandera actually became.
All for the election
The Polish scientist noted that the Poles in the 90s thought about who would be the national hero of Ukraine and hoped that it would not be Bandera, but quite the opposite happened.
The Polish intelligentsia counted and hoped that Symon Petlyura, as the most favorable Ukrainian politician to the Poles, would be this national hero, but history turned out differently. No one chooses heroes for anyone. Although here, of course, the truth cannot be put anywhere, the personality of Stepan Bandera will never unite Poles and Ukrainians, – said Cupidura.
Richard Cupidura is convinced that the position of the Polish government is not connected with blackmailing Ukraine, they say, do not celebrate and glorify Bandera, otherwise we will not help you. Here we are talking more about domestic politics and the need to win elections for the current government.
The public figure also noted that the initiative to reproach Ukraine is the position of the government, not the president, and therefore it is worth looking at it through the prism of the upcoming elections in Poland, where exactly the head of government will participate.

According to Kupidur, the ruling party wants to collect the votes of the radical segments of the population as much as possible, so we should expect such statements in July, when the anniversary of the Volyn tragedy will be.
Critical statements should also be expected in July during the next anniversary of Volyn, in Ukraine they call tragedies, and in Poland they call massacres, the scientist said.
Predominantly, such statements are aimed at an internal audience to encourage supporters of historical conflicts.
