Russian occupiers are trying to strike at the air base in Starokonstantinov, Khmelnitsky region. It is there that the brigade with Su-24 bombers is based, so it has become a priority target for Russia.
This was stated by the former speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military expert Vladislav Seleznev. He noticed that the brigade included Su-24 bombers, which actually became carriers of long-range Western missiles.
According to him, the receipt of Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles brought Ukrainian aviation to a new level. Now the converted Su-24M bombers are capable of delivering strikes from a distance of several hundred km.

In particular, this makes it possible to attack arsenals and headquarters in the Russian rear, bridges on the Crimean Isthmus, and the leadership of the Russian Black Sea Fleet directly at a staff meeting in occupied Sevastopol.

The military expert noted that carriers of long-range missiles have become a priority target of the Russian occupiers. They will remain important until the Ukrainian Air Force receives the F-16 multirole fighters.
— These missiles really bother the enemy. Precision strikes often turn warehouses, bases and arsenals more than 80 km from the line of combat contact into a pile of scrap metal. The Russians started a hunt for bombers, — states the ex-speaker of the General Staff.
However, Ukrainian commanders also understand that the airfield in Starokonstantinov is a priority target for Russia. Seleznev suggested that Su-24 bombers could be located at other airfields.
— This is the only way we can disperse and preserve equipment. The confrontation continues, the enemy is looking for intelligence information and hunting aircraft. And we are using airfields that have never been used for the Su-24 before, — says military expert.
