Romania explained why it cannot shoot down Shahed kamikaze drones launched by Russia over Ukrainian territory. They claim that they will have to open fire, but this is not allowed.
This was stated by Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, according to an article in the Digi24 publication. This is how he commented on the situation with Russian drones, fragments of which were found on Romanian territory.
Why Romania does not shoot down Russian drones over Ukraine
— In order to shoot them down, we must open fire on Ukrainian territory. I believe that this is not yet allowed. I have not heard of any decision on this issue, — said Marcel Ciolacu.
According to him, information from aerial reconnaissance indicates that drones launched by Russia near the border with Romania in the Danube region usually shoot down Ukrainian air defense forces.
