There is a state program “I want to live” in Ukraine, under which Russian servicemen can surrender . Ukraine receives about 70 – 100 such requests per day.
Since the beginning of September, since the start of the “I want to live” project, Ukraine has received about 4.5 thousand appeals from Russians about voluntary surrender to Ukrainian captivity. Vitaly Matviyenko, speaker of the coordinating headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war, spoke about this on the air of a single telethon, Channel 24 writes.

According to Vitaly Matvienko, different Russians apply to the program: relatives of those who can be mobilized or have already been mobilized, have already been mobilized and have not yet been mobilized. There is also an appeal from the regular military of Russia.
The main age category of those who surrender: 20 – 35 – 40 years. Seniors apply less frequently.
How is the procedure of surrender
- At the first stage, a serviceman or a mobilized person must leave all information about himself to the chat bot.
- Then, when the Russian is sent to Ukraine, he again contacts representatives there. In addition to the chatbot, it may already make a phone call.
- The occupier must provide all the information where he wants to show himself, he is one of them, or a whole group of them.
- Then this information is provided to special forces, which already ensure the safe exit of such a serviceman and then transfer him to places of permanent residence.

Pay attention. Ukraine takes into account that Russia has increased responsibility for voluntary surrender.
All Russian servicemen who voluntarily surrender are issued by our side as taken prisoner during the battle. This guarantees such captives, after they return to Russia, that they will not be persecuted, and all payments will be kept,” the speaker said.
At the same time, those who surrender themselves decide whether they want to return back through exchange fund or after the victory of Ukraine over Russia. Ukraine necessarily checks whether a particular serviceman is involved in war crimes. If he is “clean”, he can apply for asylum in Ukraine or European countries.
