Buzzard's candidacy must be approved by the US Senate

The candidacy of the head of the Wiesbaden center must be approved by the US Senate. According to Stars and Stripes, several hundred troops will be stationed in Wiesbaden as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Group.

As the US Department of Defense notes, this unit will operate as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Buzzard, a US Military Academy graduate, currently directs the US Army Center of Excellence in Fort Moore, Georgia. This is one of the largest military bases in the United States.

Recall that NATO previously agreed on a new plan to coordinate military assistance to Ukraine, according to which the military bloc is creating a new command in Wiesbaden, Germany.

This, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, is being done to help coordinate and plan assistance to Ukraine, training and repair of military equipment.

By the way, on July 17, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the appointment of Patrick Turner as head of the NATO representation in Ukraine. He will take up his duties in Kyiv in September 2024.
