Truly winter weather in Ukraine on New Year's, as in the first ten days of January, will be only in the Carpathians. At the same time, on New Year's Eve in some regions light wet snow is possible.
A forecaster of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Natalia Ptukha told Fakty ICTV in detail about the weather on New Year's and in the first 10 days of January 2025.
Weather forecast for the weekend — December 28 and 29
— Mostly without significant precipitation, cloudy, often with fog. Especially on Saturday in the western, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and in some places in the northern regions there are thick fogs, in some places there is weak ice. And in the west of the country there is ice on the roads, because temperature readings both during the day and at night will fluctuate between -2°C and +4°C in most regions, — predicts Ptukha.
That is, a uniform temperature background will prevail on the weekend, a little cooler, according to the forecaster, will be only in the Carpathians. At night here it will be -1-7°С.

The wind is predominantly northerly with a transition to southwesterly at a speed of up to 3-10 m/s.
Weather in Ukraine from Monday, December 30
Certain changes in the synoptic situation, according to Natalia Ptukha's forecasts, will occur on December 30-31. We are talking about a decrease in atmospheric pressure, a slight increase in wind from weak to moderate (5-10-12 m/s), that is, the weather will be more dynamic.
However, in most regions the weather is still dry.
On Monday during the day from -1°С to +4°С, in the south-western part and in Crimea during the day up to +6°С.
Weather forecast for New Year 2025
The weather forecaster predicts snow on New Year only in some regions of Ukraine.
— Precipitation is possible in the northern, eastern, Volyn, Rivne, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions — this is during the daytime hours of December 31 and the night of January 1. And this is precipitation in the form of light wet snow. In other regions, no precipitation, she specified.
The temperature on December 31 and January 1 at night is from +3°С to -3°С.
During the daytime hours of the 31st, 0+6°С, in the south of the country even up to +9°С.
On the contrary, on the 1st daytime temperature is expected to rise: in Ukraine +3-8°C, in the southern part and in the Carpathian region up to +11°C.
— Winter remains more classical in the Carpathians. At night there -2-7°C, and during the day around 0°C and snow cover will persist, — noted Ptukha.

Advisory forecast for the first ten days of January 2025
In general, the average monthly temperature in January is expected to be 1.5-2 degrees above the climatic norm, and precipitation within the norm.
— But if we talk about the first days of January, about the first ten days, then on January 2 we still have no precipitation, on January 3 — in the west of the country, on January 4 — in Transcarpathia and the Carpathians there may be rain and wet snow. And on the 5th in the southern regions light rain, and until the 6th in Ukraine, except for the southern part, wet snow, — the forecaster specifies.
That is, from January 4 a change in synoptic conditions is expected — atmospheric fronts will arrive, mainly from the northwest, which will affect the territory of Ukraine, but, as Natalia Ptukha noted, this is still precipitation of either a mixed phase or in the form of light wet snow.
— That is, such a stable snow cover is not expected yet, only in the Carpathians. It may form from January 5-6 in the western and northern regions, but not for long, because wet snow, — she explains.
No significant changes are expected in temperature indicators in the first days of January: 0 +5°С at night, +3-9°С during the day.
A slight decrease is possible on January 4-6 during the day — from -3°С to +3°С.
