On the night of July 28, Ukrainian military struck the Polevaya oil depot in the Kursk region of Russia. This facility is critically important for the Russian army.

According to local residents, several powerful explosions were heard in the area of ​​the local oil depot in the village of Polevaya at about 1 a.m. Before that, according to Russians, the characteristic sound of a UAV flying overhead was heard.

After the explosions, eyewitnesses saw heavy smoke in the sky at the Polevaya LLC oil depot. Kursk Region Governor Roman Starovoit confirmed the fire at the oil depot and also said that there were no casualties.

A few hours later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the Polevaya oil depot had been hit that night. According to intelligence, enemy air defense systems were operating in the area where the facility was located.

Later, powerful explosions and a fire were recorded; most likely, tanks with oil products caught fire, the military wrote.

The Polevaya oil depot consists of 11 tanks with a total volume of 7,000 cubic meters. This facility is used, in particular, to meet the needs of the Russian armed forces. The consequences of the damage to this Russian energy facility are still being clarified.

It is worth noting that the village of Polevaya, where the oil depot of the same name is located, is more than 160 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. According to the data that was found on the Internet, OOO “Oil Depot Polevaya” appeared in the Kursk region not so long ago – in 2017.
