Zelensky explained the ineffectiveness of diplomatic influence on Russia/Office of the President
By attacking Ukraine, Russia showed its attitude to international rules, agreements and laws. For an aggressor, diplomacy is just a cover for crimes, so any steps in this direction are futile.
In an interview with CBS for the 60 Minutes program, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky explained why he appealed to the UN Security Council in hard form. In his opinion, all diplomatic levers for deterring the Russian occupiers have already exhausted themselves.
Playing diplomacy
The head of state assured that since then, since becoming president, he always wanted to improve relations with all international partners and institutions. But in most cases, simply discussing problems didn't solve them.
When you play diplomacy, you don't get results. Everything is very slow and bureaucratic,” Zelensky said.
Even before the war, he called for the introduction of preventive sanctions against Russia and an unequivocal answer for Ukraine’s future in the EU and NATO, but everyone hesitated.
That is why Volodymyr Zelensky chose a tough style of communication, because now the delay of partners is costing the lives of many Ukrainian citizens who are bombed and terrorized by Russian invaders.
