As the head of the US House of Representatives Committee of the Armed Forces, Adam Smith, said in an interview, the States will provide Ukraine with as many HIMARS installations as they have in their arsenal.

But the Ukrainian military leadership says that Ukraine needs at least 50 HIMARS installations. In response, Adam Smith said that the United States is ready to provide Ukraine with as many HIMARS installations as they can.
It is not a fact that we have 50 such installations in our arsenal. I think the goal now is to reach 25 to 30 multiple launch rocket launchers. And it will be a combination of HIMARS and several MLRS systems from the UK and others. We will try to provide as much as we can,” he stressed.
The US congressman himself is promoting the idea of providing Ukraine with missiles with a range of 300 kilometers. In his opinion, the longer the range, the better.
“HIMARS installations with a range of 30 to 50 kilometers are very noticeable – we have already seen the result, literally this month. But if they had even greater range, it would be harder for the Russians to hide their equipment. We already see them pushing it a little further inland.” “, he emphasized.

Smith did not name the exact timing of the transfer of powerful weapons to Ukraine as part of a new aid package. At the same time, regarding the provision of fighters, such as the F-15 or F-16, Smith added that this is a matter that needs more time.
