Forecasters told when smog will disappear in Kyiv

Vitaliy Postrigan said that satellite information confirms the localization and movement of dust in Cherkasy.

According to weather forecasts, air purification can only be expected to improve the situation tomorrow evening (08/23/2022 ), – said the head of the Cherkasy Regional Hydrometeorological Center.

He also explained that the reason for this phenomenon is the transfer of air with dust particles from the Caspian Lowland and other Asian regions to the region.

“There is no smell of smoke. It is important that southeast winds prevail. It is the transboundary transport of suspended dust particles that has caused such a deterioration in visibility,” the specialist explained.

He also said that dust particles can irritate mucous membranes and cause coughing and sneezing.

“This is especially dangerous for people suffering from respiratory diseases, allergic reactions and the elderly. Therefore, it is advisable to limit exposure to the open air, as well as close windows in houses and carry out wet cleaning more often,” – advised by Vitaliy Postrigan.

Important! The specialist explained that haze is a continuous turbidity of the air due to the presence of suspended dust particles, industrial smoke or smoke of another origin. During fog, distant objects have a grayish tint, and the sun, especially if it is low above the horizon, becomes red-yellow.
