“What will happen then?”: Estonian Foreign Minister frankly admitted that the West is afraid of Putin's defeat Angela Figin

Full membership in NATO is the most effective and only long-term guarantee of security. It's not just about Ukraine, but also about Europe, because the war is taking place on the European continent.

The head of the Estonian Foreign Ministry, Margus Tsahkna, told Channel 24 about this. However, the main problem in the Western part of the world is the fear of what will happen if Vladimir Putin loses the war.

What the West is afraid of

NATO membership is the most effective and efficient guarantee of security for Europe together with Ukraine, the Estonian Foreign Minister noted. We need to convince our allies of this, and also show Russia that the West is united.

But first we need to focus on how we can win the war together and how Putin can lose the war and not be afraid of it, Tsakhkna noted.

He recalled that the West also had fears about the collapse of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s and 1990s. However, a lot of good things have happened.

Why Ukraine is not accepted into NATO

Ukraine has done a lot for reform and preparation for joining the European Union. However, consensus among 32 countries is needed regarding NATO membership. Even Sweden, the Estonian Foreign Minister recalled, needed more than a year to become a full member of the Alliance. Therefore, this is a political decision.

Please note! On May 18, 2022, Sweden officially submitted an application to join NATO. On March 7, 2024, the country officially joined NATO and became the 32nd member of the Alliance.

At the same time, it must also be understood that Ukraine is in the active phase of the war. If Kyiv becomes a full member of NATO, this means that the entire North Atlantic Alliance will be drawn into the active phase of the war.

The head of the Estonian Foreign Ministry assured that in the future Ukraine will be one of the states with the greatest military power, which will stabilize the situation in our region.

By the way, the Welt publication revealed Russia's plan for 2025, according to which Moscow may enter into a direct conflict with the West within a year.
