What Ukraine expects from NATO/Channel 24 Collage
Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Olga Stefanishyna spoke at the opening of the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. She listed there the main things expected by Ukraine from the Alliance.
This summit began in Vilnius on 29 May. The Deputy Prime Minister also asked to imagine a world where Russia won this war and called to prevent such a development of events.
7 important steps are required
Stefanyshina called on the parliamentarians of NATO member countries to increase pressure on their governments. Because now it is necessary for Ukraine to receive support. In addition, such actions can help further isolate Russia from civilized countries.
Among the necessary steps, she named:
- a complete trade embargo on Russian energy resources;
- direction of frozen financial resources for compensation to Ukraine;
- rejection of payments for gas in Russian rubles;
- total disconnection of each of the Russian banks from the SWIFT system;
- expansion of individual sanctions and visa restrictions for Russians;
< li>limitation of any opportunities for circumvention of sanctions by the aggressor;
< li>banning all Russian propaganda channels from broadcasting.
It is necessary to immediately break the chain of energy dependence on Russia and provide Ukraine with all types of weapons that will allow it to move from defense to counteroffensive. – the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
She added that the policy of ambiguity has long prevailed in the countries of the Euro-Atlantic space. Like, this is what sent a signal to the Russian dictatorship that the international order can be changed by war. At the same time, this war is paid for with European money, which is still systematically received by Russia.
We know what Russia's victory will look like
The Deputy Prime Minister said that some are afraid of Russia's defeat, or simply do not believe it is possible. However, here one should imagine peace if Ukraine is defeated in it.
With the victory of Russia, there will be no hope for a safe and free life on the European continent. The rules will be determined by force, not by international law,” Stefanyshina said.
She tried to convince Ukrainians that they already know well what this might look like. After all, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are now in the occupied territories. Their lives are full of fear and poisoned by Russian terror.
