Boris Johnson is not the favorite to become UK Prime Minister. He is hindered by his previous experience in this post, which means that the main favorite of the race is the rival of Liz Truss – Rishi Sunak.
This opinion Channel 24 was expressed by the head of the Political Studies Center “Doctrine” Yaroslav Bozhko. Earlier it was reported why Liz Truss resigned and whether Ukrainians should worry.
Rishi Sunak is the favorite for the prime minister's chair
Bozhko said that Rishi Sunak is the favorite for the prime minister's chair. British bookmakers are betting on it. As for Boris Johnson, the fact that he was already prime minister both helps and hinders him. On the one hand, he seems to be an experienced politician, and on the other hand, under the pressure of a public scandal, he was already forced to resign. His return to office could bring electoral problems to the Conservative Party.
Both the resignation of Truss and, to a greater extent, the resignation of Johnson were the reactions of the Conservative Party to the negative electoral trends that are now observed in Britain. Key opponents of the Conservatives – Labor – have from 50% to 55% of support in Britain. This is a high number. While support for the Conservative Party has dropped to 19% – 20%, – said the head of the Doctrine Center for Political Studies.
The right wing of the conservatives lost support
He continued that more than 50% of Britons have a negative attitude towards Brexit and are in favor of returning to the European Union. Therefore, both Truss and Johnson, and in general the entire right-wing anti-European wing of the Conservative Party lost support, due to the crisis phenomena that accompanied the Brexit, as well as the socio-economic realities associated with kovyd and the like that overlapped in time.“I think that the Labor Party can win the next election with such dynamics, with such numbers. However, the Conservatives will still fight to form the government that we have now. Now the Conservatives are definitely not in favor of parliamentary elections in the near future, because this it is extremely disadvantageous for them,” Bozhko emphasized.

Favorite policy
The head of the Doctrine Center for Political Studies added that if Sunak becomes prime minister, there will be no strategic changes for Ukraine. Objectively speaking, the resignations of Johnson and Truss were influenced by internal issues. No one is going to subject Britain's position towards Ukraine to a strict revision. It is dictated not only by the personal preferences of Truss and Johnson. This is a party-wide position.
It is a consensus for the British Foreign Office, which is headed by the Conservatives, and for the British security forces, and for the British intelligence services. The biggest problem that accompanies the resignation of politicians in major Western countries, in most cases, is domestic political, which then leaves its mark on electoral support, he stressed.
