What kind of war scenario can partners offer Ukraine: a political scientist assessed the position of the West Petro Sineokiy

The issue of war in Ukraine is not goes off the agenda. However, not all states demonstrate the support that we would like.

About this 24 Channel said political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, noting that it is not worth saying that the world is inclining Ukraine to negotiate with Russia. Everything is somewhat more complicated.

Few people support Russia

As noted Fesenko, there is no need to generalize here. The world is quite different. In fact, there is a fairly small group of countries that support Russia in the war against Ukraine. There are less than a dozen such states.

However, unfortunately, dozens of countries maintain close political contacts and trade with Russia, despite the war against Ukraine. And most countries in the world do not adhere to sanctions against the aggressor country.

This is a harsh reality. They do not impose sanctions because they support Russia. There are different reasons. Some people don’t want to quarrel with Russia and get into a conflict. Someone is trying to make money. This is also done by countries that have friendly relations with Ukraine,” Fesenko said.

How Western countries see the end of the war< /h2>

There is a consensus among Western countries that Ukraine cannot be allowed to lose in this war. But when everything comes to victory, there is no such common position. There are already discussions here.

I recently took part in a discussion. Green Bundestag member Robin Wagener was there. He said that our common goal is the victory of Ukraine and the defeat of Putin. But the Scholz government does not say so. Although Wagener represents the ruling coalition. Even within the coalition there are differences. And they need to find compromises,” Fesenko explained.

The same situation is with the United States. They continue to help Ukraine survive this war. But when it comes to victory, opinions vary. There are people in the Biden administration who believe that if Ukraine gets everything it needs and goes to win the war, a threatening situation could arise. Then Russia can use tactical nuclear weapons – and a global world war can begin.

But Ukraine is now going to hold the Global Peace Summit. Its main goal is to break the Russian negotiating strategy. Putin wants to force our country to peace, but on his own terms: to give up territory, significantly reduce the army, etc.

Ukraine is promoting a different path through the same Peace Summit. Our country explains to the same countries of the Global South that it is ready to negotiate. But this process must be equal. Ukraine's position and interests cannot be sacrificed.

But Western countries emphasize that it is Ukraine that must decide when, how, and on what terms to begin negotiations to end the war. But, unfortunately, the allies still do not provide enough resources to drive out the occupiers. And then there are various possible options.

Unfortunately, the West does not have a clear answer on what to do next. They are not forcing us to peace on Russian terms. Judging by all the articles, sources, and assessments, they will now help in such a way that we stabilize and level the situation, so that Russia is stopped; so that Putin understands that he will not win the war. And after that they can start (push – 24 Kanal) to negotiations, to “freeze” the conflict. Such a scenario is quite likely. But this is not for today, but for the future, – Fesenko believes.

Peace Summit: Briefly

  • The Global Peace Summit will be held on June 15-16. It will be held in Switzerland.
  • China will not participate in the Peace Summit. They have stepped up their propaganda efforts and are promoting their so-called “peace plan.”
  • US President Joe Biden will not attend the Peace Summit. The United States will be represented by US Vice President Kamala Harris.
