The share of Chinese electronics in Shahed-type attack drones has already reached 65%. This was reported in response to a request from the Radio Liberty Donbas.Realii project by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
What has changed in Russian UAVs
According to intelligence data, the share of electronic components made in China in the drones discovered in May this year has grown to 60-65%. Thus, for the first time, China has pushed US components into second place. Switzerland is in third place.
Thus, in Russian UAVs, the jam-proof antennas of the satellite navigation system were replaced with ones more resistant to electronic warfare. The number of antenna elements was increased – instead of four and eight, there were 12 and 16.

“One of the innovations is the use of 3G modems in UAVs, which provide information about their location and telemetry to the Telegram bot so that the enemy can analyze the placement of our electronic warfare systems and air defense systems,” the GUR representative explained to journalists.
He added that the range of combat units has also expanded. Thus, there are cases when the Geran-2 UAV was used with a system for dropping delayed-action cluster elements.
The Russian Federation has increased the weight of the Shahed warhead to 90 kg. Intelligence officers have recorded measures to increase the waterproofing class of attack UAVs for their effective use in difficult weather conditions.
It is noted that the aggressors have already tested the third version of the drones (the so-called Geranium-3), which was equipped with a jet engine.
