The Ministry of Education and Science reports that 317,083 people registered to participate in the NMT in 2025, which is more than in 2024.

Interestingly, the number of participants who plan to take the test abroad remains stable, indicating continued interest in obtaining higher education in Ukraine even among those who are temporarily outside the country.

The Ministry of Education and Science notes that of the total number of registered people, 236,529 are school graduates this year. The rest are applicants who returned to school after a break in their studies.

On July 3, during the national telethon “Yedini Novyny,” Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vinnytsky announced forecasts for the number of people entering universities in 2025.

In particular, he predicted that in 2025, about half a million applicants will be entering vocational and higher education institutions in general.

So, this year graduate offices need to be opened for:

  • bachelor's degree;
  • vocational education;
  • special pre-higher education;
  • Master's degree;
  • postgraduate studies.

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science also emphasized that a new system of financing higher education was introduced this year. In particular, a third model was added to the budget and contractual forms of education – a contract student with a grant.

Thus, the state seeks to encourage young people to choose professions that correspond to the real needs of the labor market and the strategic interests of the country.

At the same time, areas with lower demand may have limited funding: fewer budget places and limited access to educational grants, which will make training in such specialties more expensive.

Currently, a large number of government orders have the following specialties:

  • IT sphere;
  • education;
  • medicine;
  • psychology;
  • rehabilitation, therapy;
  • engineering, architecture;
  • construction;
  • agronomy and agriculture.
