On the night of January 31, Ukrainian drones successfully attacked one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka. It processes 14 million tons of oil per year.

What is known about the attacked oil refinery in Volgograd

The plant in Volgograd was put into operation on December 21, 1957. Since the early 1990s, it has been part of PJSC LUKOIL.

According to open data, this refinery processes a mixture of low-sulfur West Siberian and Lower Volga oils. The feedstock is supplied to it via the Samara-Tikhoretsk oil pipeline.

The plant in Volgograd produces, in particular, gasoline, diesel, jet and marine fuel.

The Southern Federal District of Russia is the largest region where the products of LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka are delivered. Some of it is exported.

The company claims that it sells its products to the Mediterranean countries, Central Asia, and recently the refinery has entered the Iranian market. It also supplies oil to Greece, Turkey, etc.

In the period 2017–2019, the refinery's revenue was constantly growing. If in 2017, sales revenue amounted to 330,658 million rubles, then in 2019 it reached 456,424 million rubles. By this time, these characteristics allowed the plant to occupy second place among 480 other Russian companies in this industry.

However, on January 31, Ukrainian drones attacked this huge production facility. There were explosions, and the locals watched the flashes and glow.
