What important targets were attacked in Russia: a retired army general named their significance

Ukrainian drones successfully attacked the Russian Voronezh-M and Voronezh-DM radars on Russian territory. And on the evening of May 27, a drone attacked the Russian town of Balashikha near Moscow, causing considerable panic among the locals. In general, the Moscow region is an important target for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since a huge number of different types of military facilities of a strategic level are located there.

Retired Army General, ex- The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Nikolai Malomuzh, told 24 Channel that the Armed Forces are carrying out targeted strikes on various strategic targets already 1,800 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. According to the latest data, a super-powerful and very expensive strategic space-type tracking radar station was destroyed, which is a concrete achievement of our special services.

Moscow is not so protected

Nikolai Malomuzh noted that the same attacks are being carried out on Tatarstan, located 1600 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. The Moscow region is another very important goal, which also has moral and political significance, since the Russians realized that the Defense Forces are reaching out and hitting there too.

There are a huge number of different types of strategic-level military facilities: powerful bunkers, radar systems, space tracking systems, headquarters that are located on land in forests or underground. And to hit such targets means to undermine the enemy’s defense capability at the strategic level, not only in long-range operations or front-line zones, but already near Moscow.

As Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said, Moscow is 100% protected. It turns out, no, we have hit before and are now hitting these specific targets,” said the retired army general.

British newspaper The Telegraph meanwhile wrote about the concerns of some Western analysts after the Defense Forces managed to hit the Voronezh-M radar in Orsk, and before that, the Voronezh-DM over-the-horizon early warning radar station in the Krasnodar Territory.

Analysts are concerned that the West could perceive such attacks as an escalation. However, the official West is silent, because the strikes were carried out by Ukrainian drones, and not by Western weapons.

Russians without radar “blind”

Regarding defeats on enemy radars, Nikolai Malomuzh noted that Putin has repeatedly said that the most powerful potential is long-range ballistic missiles that reach anywhere in the world.

Such missiles don’t just fly: they must be aimed, somehow accompanied and wound up before the warhead is used. And now, without such radars, the Russians are actually “blind.”

After all, it is not only important to destroy a missile in the air, but also not to aim it. Otherwise, the invaders will be able to lift the missile into the air and aim it at a specific object or specific city – Washington, London, Berlin or Kyiv.

This can happen, so attacks on such facilities are important to ensure that we make it impossible to launch nuclear strikes on the territory of Ukraine and the territory of our partners. Therefore, let them (Western partners – Channel 24) rejoice that we destroyed another point of aim directly at them,” emphasized Nikolai Malomuzh.

In his opinion, the West benefits from the fact that Ukraine destroyed these systems on its own in the process of destroying the aggressor. They primarily threaten the Western world because they are attacking ballistic missiles that are not flying at our state.

Strikes on “Voronezh-M” and “Voronezh-DM”: what is known

  • “Voronezh-M” – a new generation radar station. It is part of Russian long-range stationary ultra-horizontal radars that detect space and aerodynamic objects, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles. It has a target detection range of up to 6 thousand kilometers.
  • Performed the function of a gunner, being synchronized with the Tobol electronic warfare system in the Kaliningrad region. This electronic warfare can jam GPS communications in Poland and Starlink satellites in Ukraine, which has already happened several times. but they were not yet visible in the photographs taken on May 26th. It is likely that these are traces of a fire as a result of being hit by drones.
  • “Voronezh-DM” is an over-the-horizon radar station, which is located near the city of Armavir. Included in the Russian missile attack early warning system. One such station can provide a detection range of up to 6 thousand kilometers horizontally and 7 thousand kilometers vertically.
  • The drones entered the administrative buildings for personnel and management of this radar. /li>
