What consequences to expect from ATACMS and Storm Shadow attacks on Russia Anzhelika Galesevich

Western ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles are extremely effective and highly accurate. They can penetrate reinforced concrete bunker walls and even the ceilings of buildings deep underground.

Russian air defense cannot shoot down all missiles, some will definitely arrive. Former Deputy Commander of the Royal Air Force Greg Bagwell told Channel 24 this, emphasizing that ATACMS and Storm Shadow can hit a pinpoint target.

How ATACMS and Storm Shadow Missiles Will Help Destroy Military Targets in Russia

Russia's S-300 and S-400 systems are not 100% effective. They can't even intercept relatively slow and vulnerable drones, let alone Western missiles.

ATACMS and Storm Shadow move faster, fly lower, can navigate through systems, and have a number of measures that make them even more difficult to shoot down.

Russia can indeed shoot down a few missiles, but most will land where they're supposed to. Because ATACMS and Storm Shadow have systems that can penetrate meters of concrete and earth and hit the target.

Western missiles are highly accurate. They can strike at a distance of one to two meters from the target. There are already examples of how effectively ATACMS and Storm Shadow operate. One missile flies through the object, the next one – through the hole made by the first.

They can also penetrate hardened targets. If there is a bunker, these missiles will pass through reinforced concrete for several meters and will even penetrate the floors of buildings deep underground, – explained Greg Bagwell.

So, ATACMS and Storm Shadow can destroy hidden and hardened objects on Russian territory. They are indeed effective in destroying pinpoint targets, which probably protect the most sensitive information of important persons in Russia.

Recently, the White House confirmed the use of ATACMS missiles by Ukraine to strike targets in the Kursk region of Russia. Namely, on the night of November 25, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Kursk-Vostochny tactical aviation airfield.
