What a twist of fate: who became the Kremlin's new “watcher” for the Donbass/Getty Images
An educational history of the transformation of “progressive” and “liberal” Russians (this is for those who still write them down).
There was such is their Prime Minister Kiriyenko. Whom Nemtsov brought to Yeltsin's team, because he was his friend.
Kiriyenko's career
At that time (I remind you that it was 1998), Kiriyenko's appointment was perceived as a victory for the “progressive wing” of the Eltsin team .
True, this government worked for a few months, and in the fall, declaring a default, resigned. Another interesting detail about Kiriyenko is that his mother is from Odessa, and he actually took her last name. Obviously, so as not to interfere with the development of the Komsomol career, the father's surname is Israel.
Now Kiriyenko works on Putin's parcels, travels around the Donbass that has been squeezed out (so far), is preparing a “parade” in Mariupol, and communicates with various saldas.
From the prime minister, he rose to the rank of deputy head of Putin's administration (after he headed Rosatom for some time). What a twist of fate – it was Kiriyenko who represented Putin as the newly appointed head of the FSB of the Russian Federation.
