On the evening of July 26, a dam burst at the Kialimskoye Reservoir in the Chelyabinsk Region. Local residents are in a panic and accuse the authorities of inaction.

People are saving themselves on the roofs of houses. In total, about 200 people are at risk. This is reported by a number of Russian publications.

What is known about the incident

Local Telegram channels write that the dam between the pumping station and the reservoir locks burst.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the influx of water into the Kialimskoye Reservoir occurred due to heavy precipitation. Because of this, a 100-meter-long dam was washed away; 4 villages are located along the water's path.

The water is spreading very quickly; many homes have already been flooded. Residents of the villages of Kialim, Mukhametovo, Saktaevo, Karasayevo and Baydashevo are in the flood zone, the report says.

According to local authorities, there are about 200 people in the flood zone.

A state of emergency has been declared in the district. Residents of nearby villages have already been called upon to collect their things and documents and prepare for evacuation.
