The head of state expressed his opinion, speaking at a session of the Wall Street Journal CEO Council Summit. He convinces that in the issue of a ceasefire there should be the same desire of Russia on this matter, but there is none yet, Channel 24 reports.
When both sides want a ceasefire, they they do it. With Russia, we went through this over the past years on the contact line in the Donbass. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with them. They say that they come to an agreement, and then they violate these agreements,” Zelensky said.
According to him, now there is no question of a violation of trust in the Russians, there is only a ceasefire.
Zelensky about Mariupol
The head of state, as A good example of the price of agreements with Russia was the shelling of Mariupol during the evacuation.

There can be no permanent ceasefire

“If we have a meeting with President Putin, then by that time there will be a ceasefire. Otherwise, then there will simply be no meeting. Perhaps , we will personally agree with him, because he personally must assume the obligation to cease fire.” It is desirable that they be public, and then we can believe in it,” Zelensky explained.
At the same time, he acknowledged that the ceasefire does not mean that there will be one and the Russian troops will remain where they are now.
There will be no frozen conflict
The President assured that this conflict could not be kept at the freezing stage.
We won't go for it. I came to the presidency when there were Minsk-1, Minsk-2 and the corresponding violated documents. This means that they were not serious. Nevertheless, there were agreements on paper and in one form or another it was such a frozen conflict. I am against it, so we will definitely not have such a document,” the head of state said.
He stressed that Ukraine has not withdrawn from the Minsk agreements. Putin did this on February 24 and said it publicly. Started a military special operation, although this is a war and a full-scale invasion. Zelensky assured that Ukraine would definitely not go into such a diplomatic swamp again.

“But this is only communication and I will say frankly that I do not really believe in such agreements. I think it is important to speak, but for now the president If Russia will not sign or not sign, but will officially say something, then I do not see the weight of such agreements,” Zelensky summed up.
