Russians damaged 2229 houses in Kharkiv and the region. Cities and villages suffered, but the Ukrainian defenders managed to liberate most of the territories from the invaders.
On May 29, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Kharkiv region. He posted a photo from the trip.
“In this war, the infidels are trying to squeeze out at least some result for themselves. But they should have understood for a long time that we will defend our land to the last. They have no chance. We will fight and we will definitely win,” the president wrote.

Promises to build Kharkiv
Zelensky visited the front line and inspected the destroyed houses of Kharkiv. In particular, he visited the Saltovsky district. This area was attacked the most by the enemy. In the northern and eastern districts of the city, the invaders destroyed 30.2% of the total housing stock. The President assured that everything will be built and filled with life.

The president also held a working meeting on the state of affairs in the Kharkiv region and the city with Oleg Sinegub, head of the regional military administration, Igor Terekhov, mayor, and representatives of the military command and law enforcement officers. According to Zelensky, now it makes sense to reduce the use of panel houses. He offered to replace them with more reliable and new ones.
If this is what happened in our country, then is it worth considering the possibility of removing panel houses throughout the country , especially in the devastated territories,” Zelensky said.
He stressed that housing should be built with shelters. To do this, Ukraine will look for money and credit lines.
