Poland is preparing for a possible Russian attack. Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Andriy Deshchytsia said that you need to be ready for this.
In his opinion, the fact that Poland is preparing for a likely attack is quite correct, since 2022 has shown what Russia is capable of. Deshchytsia also recalled the old saying: “If you want peace, prepare for war.”
According to Deshchytsia, Poland is preparing “quite seriously.” In particular, the country updated the law on defense, increased the budget for defense and increased the amount of territorial defense. Poland is also currently purchasing modern types of weapons for the army.
The fact that Poland is seriously preparing is serious, and I think they are doing the right thing. Because there is an old saying: if you want peace, prepare for war. And if Poland sees what this aggressive policy of Russia in Ukraine can lead to, then it is time to prepare for this not to happen in Poland. So that there are no such Butch, Irpen and Gostomel in Poland. Therefore, they are quite seriously preparing for this…, Deshchitsa said.
Can Russia really attack Poland
According to the Ambassador, Russia can attack Poland. This may be due to an error, and because of some kind of emotional decision.
Whether Russia will attack Poland – this question should be asked to Russia, but it is quite possible . Russia is shelling Lviv or Yavorov, located a few dozen kilometers from Poland, and it is quite possible that these missiles can fly 20 kilometers towards the West. And this will already be the territory of Poland,” said Deshchitsa.
He noted that the Russians shell Kyiv when there are delegations of other states. According to the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, Russia can attack Poland if it makes some “insulting” statements for the aggressor country.
This can also happen if Poland makes any statements and then Russia can try to shell it. There is no need to be afraid of this, you need to prepare for this and you need to be ready to provide the same strong rebuff to Russia, as Ukraine did. – the ambassador said.
He also noted that no one knows whether Belarus will be used as a springboard for an attack on Poland. He recalled the situation with the so-called migrants who tried to break through the Belarusian-Polish border in the fall of 2021.
What is happening on the Polish-Belarusian border last autumn was a kind of attack prepared by the Belarusian and Russian special services against Poland. If then Poland had allowed these so-called migrants and let them into its territory, it is not known whether the situation in Poland would have been stable, would not have shaken it, were it not sabotage groups that were shaking the situation inside, – said Deshchytsia.
What does the President of Poland think about this- Earlier, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, suggested that it is unlikely that Russia or any country would dare to attack a NATO country, respectively, and Poland.
- But he noted that such a threat does exist. Therefore, he recalled that in Poland there are more than 10 thousand powerful soldiers from the largest army in the world, with powerful weapons. These soldiers have combat experience. The country also has American infrastructure, heavy weapons, air defense, thanks to which part of the country's territory is already protected by American Patriot systems.
