Zelensky met with the French Foreign Minister
The head of our state noted the leadership of France on the issue granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for accession to the European Union. They also talked about pseudo-referendums in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
Thus, the president stressed that Ukraine expects the most severe reaction of international partners to the pseudo-referenda held by Russia in the occupied territories.
We expect both powerful sanctions in the eighth EU sanctions package against Russia, as well as clear signals about what will happen if the Russian Federation recognizes these artificial “referendums,” Zelensky said.
He also noted the importance of strengthening defense support for Ukraine. At the same time, the head of state stressed that restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine without modern weapons is impossible, assuring that he appreciates the assistance provided by France all these months.
Zelensky thanked French President Emmanuel Macron for supporting Ukraine, and also expressed gratitude to French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonny for her visit to Ukraine.

What is known about pseudo-referendums
- On September 19, the Gauleiters in the occupied territories simultaneously announced “referendums”. It was decided to hold a fake declaration of will on September 23-27 against the backdrop of a successful counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Vladimir Putin promised to support fake “referendums”.
