< strong _ngcontent-sc88="">European leaders today, June 16, visited Ukraine and met with Volodymyr Zelensky. Most likely, what they saw in Irpen will still influence their further rhetoric.

French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis have arrived in Ukraine. Most of this meeting was non-public.

That is why so far we can only guess what they agreed on, however, most likely, their views have changed. Political scientist Nikolai Davydyuk reported this to Channel 24.

After what he saw, everything changed

He noted that the three guests are friends of Russian President Vladimir Putin. We are talking about Macron, Scholz and Draga. However, Romanian President Iohannis slightly balanced this meeting, since he does not have pro-Russian views.

These three arrived in the hope that they would persuade Ukraine to make concessions. We went to pressurize, but after Irpin everything changed, – said Danilyuk.

He noted that, indeed, politicians are very deceitful, vile and insidious. However, in his opinion, this trio left Irpen, where they saw the atrocities of the Russians, completely different, something “turned over” inside them.

The consequences of the atrocities of the Russians showed essence of Putin

The statements they started making were 10 times more pro-Ukrainian than before. It is clear that Putin's call may sway them to the other side, this cannot be ruled out. However, the crime scenes showed that the person on the other side of the telephone line is a completely different person than they imagined.

As the political scientist explained, the real consequences of what Putin's gangsters, murderers and rapists did is completely different, than what Putin told them on the phone. In his opinion, Scholz and Macron needed to come to these places much faster. For example, when they were visited by Ursula von der Leyen and Boris Johnson.

I think that they were traveling in the same mood, but arrived at the meeting on Bankova Street with a completely different vision of the world,” the political scientist noted.

The next steps for EU leaders

The political scientist suggested that we would find out the non-public part of the meeting in 1-2 days. In particular, this can be seen in the statements of other European and US politicians, as well as in the actions of Ukrainian officials.

According to Davidyuk, it is likely that politicians will “hold out” the decision on Ukraine's candidacy for EU membership, at least they will switch to the supply of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, negotiations with Putin on a possible peace agreement will be more pro-Ukrainian and fair to humanity.

We are not asking them to be patriots of Ukraine, we are asking them to be fair leaders of the European Union,” the political scientist emphasized.

What EU leaders are afraid of

However, he emphasized that there is no need to idealize them, because they simply saw a reality that we have seen since February 24, 2022. According to the political scientist, now the EU leaders will put less pressure on Ukraine and will no longer agree with Putin's pressure.

At the same time, the political scientist does not believe that they themselves will begin to put pressure on Putin. He noted that Europe still remains dependent on Russian gas.

In addition, they have a fear of a Russian nuclear strike. They are also afraid that the Ukrainian army will cross the border of the aggressor country and Putin will declare war on Europe.

“Ukraine gives guarantees that this will not happen. We will not go with tanks to Russian territory. Our task is to liberate the Crimea, Donetsk region, Luhansk region and the Azov region. We have never waged wars of conquest, and they must understand this,” summed up Davydyuk.
