The German Minister of Economy tried to refute the accusations that Germany does not help Ukraine/Channel 24 Collage
Germany is accused of insufficient assistance to Ukraine against the background of the war against Russia and delays in the supply of weapons. German Economy Minister Robert Gabeck tried to refute these reproaches.
The official gave a lengthy interview to the German edition of Die Welt, in which he stated that Germany “cannot fulfill all the wishes” of Kyiv. At the same time, he stressed that the FRG supports Ukraine and supplies weapons to our state, in particular, he assured that the Ukrainian military is learning to cope with the German Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers, which will soon go to the front.
Gabeck on Germany's help
The German Minister of Economics is a member of the Green Party (Die Grünen), and his political strength is clearly supported the supply of weapons to Ukraine, the interview says. Robert Gabek visited Kyiv back in 2021, and then, long before the large-scale invasion of Russia, the supply of defense weapons to our state was discussed.
At the same time, journalist Die Welt noted that the Russian army kills and rages in Ukraine < strong>for more than three months , and the supply of weapons from Germany to Ukraine is still being delayed. Gabek was asked why this happens.
The Minister of Economy of Germany replied that right now Ukrainian soldiers are being trained in the use of the German howitzer system Panzerhaubitze 2000, one of the most modern artillery installations in the world. For their use at the front, according to the politician, special education is needed, and Ukraine itself insists on a full course of study.
Soon Germany will transfer this weaponry to Ukraine. Therefore, it cannot be said that the FRG does not supply or sends too little assistance to Ukraine. True, Berlin really cannot satisfy all the needs of Kyiv. Therefore, a certain tension arose, Gabek noted.
What is known about the Panzerhaubitze 2000
The self-propelled gun-howitzer with a caliber of 155 millimeters was developed by the German concern Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. Adopted by the German Armed Forces in 1998. It is equipped with an automatic loading system with 60 rounds of ammunition and 228 modular projectiles, as well as a modern high-precision ground navigation system. The range of fire with a standard projectile is up to 30 – 36 km.
Let us recall that the other day, on May 27, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again commented about supplies military assistance to Ukraine. He said that all Russian attacks must be countered, and “Putin's narrative” must be refuted. The head of the German government stressed that injustice cannot defeat the law, and brute force cannot be a means of politics.
