Today all Ukrainians are united in the fight against the Russian invaders. Entire families stand up in defense of their native country.
An example of this is Mikhail Vasilyevich and his sons, Ivan and Vasily, who side by side defend Ukraine from Russian invaders. Their story appeared on the social networks of the National Guard.
We fight for freedom and justice – the story of a family protecting Odessa region
Mikhail Vasilyevich was born in the Odessa region, where he lived with his family before the full-scale war against Ukraine, raising two sons and a grandson. After the news of the invasion of enemy troops, the man volunteered to defend his native land.
During a conversation with my eldest son Ivan, who is now a career officer, I said that I could not just sit fold our arms at home and wait for the summons, realizing that the enemy is already on our land, – recalls Mikhail Vasilyevich.
During this conversation, the son offered to join the National Guard volunteers. The idea seemed apt, given that during his life Mikhail had to visit hot spots.
“I was a military man and dreamed that my sons would also become defenders of their state. That's why it was destined to happen. The eldest son Ivan serves in the ranks of the National Guard, and the younger Vasily in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, – says the man.

Like the father, both sons are now perform combat missions for the defense of Odessa region. Although he does not know where they are, he is warmed by the thought that the children have chosen this path.
Of course, I worry about them. When I'm waiting for the next message, time seems to stretch on forever, – says the guard.
Mikhail Vasilievich is sure that the unity of Ukrainians, who stand in defense of the state and can firmly hold weapons in their hands, is a very important and powerful weapon . He believes that soon Ukraine will be free.
My sons and I are fighting for freedom of choice. Freedom and justice. The only way! Victory will definitely be ours! – Mikhail Vasilyevich says with confidence.
