“We can be in the same union”: Davydyuk answered how to perceive Pistorius’ statement

by alex

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the country is doing everything possible to support Ukraine. However, Berlin is supposedly not an ally of Kyiv, because the countries are not in the same alliance.

Political scientist Nikolai Davydyuk commented this is a contradictory statement to Channel 24. According to him, there is no need to dramatize the situation once again.

As you know, Germany is increasing the volume of assistance to Ukraine – in 2024 it will be twice as much. At the same time, Berlin does not want to provoke Russia once again, which does not mean it is interested in its victory.

We We weren’t in an alliance, but we could be. Now, for the first time in our history, we can be in this union (in the EU – Channel 24), – Davydyuk emphasized.

The political scientist believes that Germany has mastered the lessons of history well, so it will not end up on the wrong side again.

The words of the German Defense Minister were quoted in Newsweek. This was a response to criticism of the pace and volume of assistance provided to Ukraine.

We do what we can. But Germany is not an ally of Ukraine, we are not in the same alliance,” Pistorius said.

According to him, the supply of the required amount of weapons, including million 100mm shells, takes time. Like, this is not a question of “political decisions or financial resources.”

In addition, Pistorius rejected the statement that the West does not want a complete victory for Ukraine. If Russia wins, Germany will face a “completely new security situation.”
