Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. And of course, there was talk about Ukraine.

Erdogan told Putin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit that a “just world” that will satisfy both sides is possible. The Turkish president also expressed his readiness to “lay the foundation for a ceasefire agreement.”

What Erdogan said to Putin

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told his Kremlin host that Ankara is ready to contribute and can lay the groundwork for a ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

According to him, first we need to agree on a ceasefire, and then start discussing a peace agreement. At the same time, the Russian dictator’s favorite Dmitry Peskov has already commented on such proposals.

As Putin’s lackey noted, Erdogan is not a likely mediator in negotiations on the war in Ukraine.

What preceded this

  • A few months ago media wrote that Turkey allegedly offers Ukraine and Russia a plan to freeze the war. It allegedly stipulates that Kyiv will refuse to join NATO at least until 2040.
  • Earlier, Erdogan also assured that he was ready to act as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia. But the Turkish initiative alone is not enough.
  • Note that the day before the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey expressed his intention to visit our captured defenders who are now in Russia.
